Snipers guarding streets of London

The Australian: Snipers guarding streets of London:

"There is concern among ministers and police at how long officers can continue such an intensive operation to 'lock down' London while a threat remains. Although reinforcements have been brought in and leave has been cancelled, resources are stretched to keep up the guard on the capital, which is costing pound stg. 500,000 ($1.16million) a day."

Well, if they think there are going to be other attacks, they can be thorough, they can be half hearted or they can give up now and go back to other police duties. It would appear the decision has been to be thorough, so there is no use saying now this can't go on. If that's what you decide, then you have to wear it. The alternative is to shut down London and wave everyone off on their holidays for a couple of months. Decentralise. Evacuate! Do you want to do that? Send everyone off to Wales or Scotland, or they could come here and see us for a bit. They could do all their work over the Net. I'd say you are just going to have to be in there for the long haul.
