City opens its heart to families seeking new life

The Advertiser: City opens its heart to families seeking new life :

"Murray Bridge yesterday celebrated its status as a 'Refugee Friendly City' with an event at the regional gallery. Mr Jafari, 48, was one of 60 Afghan men who have lived and worked in the rural city for the past four years, recognised at the celebration. All were on temporary protection visas until recently. That banned them from bringing their families here. Most, including Mr Jafari, now have permanent protection visas and have their families joining them in South Australia."

Murray Bridge is one of our older SA cities with some of our beautiful old buildings. Just so you don't get confused, this is how we normally treat people in Australia and it is no surprise that no nonsense Murray Bridge is showing us how to do it. Murray Bridge is going to become one of the Immigration Department's Regional Settlement projects. That is how to win friends and influence people and that is what Australians are like. We are a nation made up of all sorts and all our sorts mix and match very well because we don't like tall poppies and we bat for the underdog.
