Loaded Dog now larger than life

Loaded Dog now larger than life : "The artwork is about the size of a horse and has been made by Andy Scott, who has flown in from Glasgow to attend the official unveiling."

Henry Lawson's The Loaded Dog is a very amusing, very Australian short story and it is high time it were honoured. Dogs and Labradors , in particular, are part of our lifestyle and heritage and labradors these days are the backbone of our seeing eye brigade for the vision impaired. They play a big part in our culture and we have a very soft spot for them. It's good Whyalla has a steel version of naughty Tommy, the infamous Loaded Dog. I wonder whether Andy Scott thought of the idea or whether we suggested it? It's a great tribute to our city of steel, to one of our most famous authors and to the Scot who has fashioned the dog from steel.
