Teens avoid jail for 'brutal' attack : "The Children's Court was told the girl was forced to perform sexual acts, was spat on and had her hair set alight by a group of 11 boys."
So why is the brutal in inverted commas? It was a brutal attack, quoted or unquoted. It really was brutal. In our civilised society? So what exactly did she do to deserve that and how does she feel now? 17 is a pretty critical year for something like that to happen. Just the violence of it. Just the fact she was one girl and there were 11 boys. How did they get the notion that this sort of thing is okay because it is more than anti social. It is mindless and senseless violence. I can't actually believe they can justify it and I don't think we can justify it. These boys aren't even clueless. So how old were they? I feel desperately sorry for the girl and I hope her family can make her well and I hope we, as a society, will stand by her and make her feel strong. That girl will be looking over her shoulder for the rest of her life. I hope the boys have someone looking over their shoulders and watching every move they make. I couldn't trust them.
