Parliament pays tribute to Beazley senior

Parliament pays tribute to Beazley senior : "All sides of Federal Parliament have paid tribute to former MP Kim Beazley senior who died last year."

I heard a lot of this while I was driving this afternoon. I was actually proud to be Australian and to hear our parliamentarians speak so well and so honestly about one of the men who has shaped our country. There wasn't rhetoric. It was very well thought out, careful thinking which honed in on Mr. Beazley's real strengths, the strengths of our country and then the things we needed to consider and think about: the fact we could admire and value someone even if we did not agree with everything they said and did. There was a sense of perspective and appreciation for a man who had made us the Australia we are today and therefore deserving of our respect and thought. I can't remember when I was last pleased to hear a political broadcast. These are good leaders!
