With another report of students being shot in a school , with our thoughts that if the bush fires had occurred during the week, our students would have been endangered, with floods, snow storms, random attacks of arson, bombings...schools are increasingly a target for society's dysfunction. We have the capacity to deliver online education now and the cost would be isolating students from friends and teachers who can play a significant role in their lives. More and more we are going to have to think about protecting students and staff from these random, lethal attacks and then the cruel weather events. Who would then look after them if we taught them online? For that reason we won't do it, but I am desperately sorry for parents who are increasingly getting this kind of news and I am so sorry for communities which are suffering this kind of violence. We all need to give this some serious thought.
