Gen X, gen Y - it's generation con, actually :
"With so much technology at their fingertips and so many screens vying for their attention, marketers simply don't know which way to jump. A single ad campaign with a single message simply won't wash with this generation of media savvy 20-somethings."
Maybe it's true, maybe each generation poses problems and confuses people for a while. Then it all becomes readable, identifiable and old hat. The 20s seem to be very chatty. Some are really extreme. They do know a lot about the world because they have travelled. They laugh at a lot of things and like to make fun of things. They are serious about te environment and some of them are very slick in the way they manipulate technology. But there seems to be a bit of a technology backlash with this younger group too. They are very choosy about what they want and about how they will use it or not. The often don't know all the functions of a gadget but they are happy with the functions they know. They don't explore technology in that sense. So advertising them is not that hard...get mobile!! Talk to them. They like talking!! Then they share their knowledge. So if one of them gets something and by talking they show it's worth having...then the others go out and buy. That simple. If they like it , they buy it. Who else is like that?!
