Opposition condemns Rann's Chile trip.

Opposition condemns Rann's Chile trip. : "'You'd have to question, what value to South Australia to go to Chile and simply make re-announcements in some cases or announcements that should have been and could have been made here?'"

I think we need facts rather than opinion. It sounds like Mr. Rann is looking at big mines and desalination plants. You have to see those kinds of operations first hand and you have to be able to talk to the people and look at the surrounding areas. This is not arm chair travelling . It's looking at what other countries are doing with regard to the same things in which we greatly invest and which we have on the table for possible investment. You have to look in person. Besides, we have so many people from Chile in South Australia. It will be good for them to know that the Premier is prepared to look at the country which was their homeland and view it favourably. The Chileans here are quietly contributing to our lifestyle and strength. It's good for them to feel their place of birth means something to us.
