January Ice Storm

Better late than never! A friend of mine in America has just sent me pictures of the ice storm which hit Kansas in January and cut the electricity to 150, 000 homes. We were right in the middle of the heat, the dry and the bush fires, so it was just the complete opposite and it makes you wonder. People are battling harsh and bizarre conditions no matter where they live and we really need to wake up to ourselves. The ice storm pictures are remarkable. Just so amazing but to be without heat in -5 temperatures and to have schools shut and facilities out of action just puts the pressure on and yet people seem ever willing just to get on with it. Everywhere people are doing it hard. The frozen power lines coming down would have been especially hazardous , but the landscape looks so surreal.
