The Australian: Cappuccino prices froth up :
"Brazil and Vietnam, the world's biggest coffee producers, are both battling unseasonal weather conditions that have cut harvests by as much as 25 per cent.
Coffee futures, the world's second-most traded commodity after crude oil, have risen almost 80 per cent in the past 12 months.
Stocks are now so low that the International Coffee Organisation has predicted a global coffee supply shortfall of 8 per cent this year."
Okay, we can live with the knowledge that oil prices go up because they want to and sometimes they go down because they want to. When it comes to climate change interfering with our hallowed coffee beans, I'm sorry, that's just not acceptable. If climate science needs to direct its energies towards anything, it's towards saving our decent cup of coffee! Second most traded commodity. That's how much we love real coffee. Don't know about you but I prefer Arabica and French coffee beans.
