Tourists Down

A country's wealth is built on its primary industry. In times of prosperity service industries thrive but they will not cement an economy during lean economic times. When money is short, jobs are scarce, income low, then people will look to cut costs. The first things to go will be services. So with the harsher economic times upon us, then yes, people will travel less, they go away less often and the tourists will look longingly through their images and holiday souvenirs. It would help if we holiday at thome. It'll put our tourist dollars back into our pockets. It will help if we consider our own tourist spots. We might actually notice some of these places need our help because they are suffereing from the atrocities of a cruel climate. It will mean we rediscover some of the joys of our own country. When money gets tighter , we'll rediscover our local area and we shall have to support our own. We are going to have to rethink this because we can help some of our tourism spots and keep them viable until better times are upon us. We have to deal with it or we are in for a shock. Many people have prospered from tourism but it is an industry which rides good financial conditions. All countries will be feeling the pinch now.Think globally and act locally will have to come into play. I don't think we are suddenly going to lose our intercontinental and international connections. We have spent too long developing them as a world. We are going to have to look at how this all plays out when people will not have the money to travel, won't have the money for expensive accommodation. It might help the carbon footprints we have done little about. It might help pollution. It may not help individual operators unless we can help them from the inside.
