Wine Worries

Vineyards anger over road plan - ABC News
"You certainly wouldn't be able to build a road through Burgundy vineyards [in France] and just pay the owners of the vineyards a little bit of money to compensate for some of those grape vineyards," he said.

Actually, I was just talking with people at the weekend about the couplet and blatant lack of consideration for our heritage in this state . We were talking about the things which had been destroyed...like Centennial Hall, like the original houses in different areas of SA...the bulldozers come out and South Australia just bulldozes its heritage without a thought. The Coonawarra winemakers are bang on the button. Other countries respect their heritage, respect their skills and labour and consult. You don't just run rampant through our wine districts. It's outrageous, but it is also remarkably stupid . These people have been making a name and money for us. They have got us onto the international market and they have given Australia a really good name in wine....so driving a bypass road through their lands, ignoring their needs and wants, being arrogant enough to not consult these winemakers is absolute bullying , destructive and provocative behaviour. Working with people would probably be a better idea. If you have something to say , please put a submission into the Wattle Range Council.
