Farmers 'already knew of zero allocation'

Farmers 'already knew of zero allocation': "'I think we have all been aware of this drought, it hasn't suddenly fallen into our laps. All he's done is provide a bit more doom and gloom for everyone but has not offered any practical assistance that might help the industry or indicate what the Government might do. The timing to me seems somewhat strange.'"
Why would you cut water allocations to farms? They feed us!! So it makes great sense to make farmers go without when they are primary industry and they provide sustenance for our people. This is nonsense. What about industry? What about soft drink and other things we don't need in the short term? We need food. Sorry, but we do. John Howard has made some incredibly odd decisions lately. It is not his style at all to make nonsensical decisions. Even if you didn't agree with his decisions you could see where he was coming from, but this is just another one of his peculiar decisions of late.
