Wedge-tailed eagles protected

Wedge-tailed eagles protected following licence ban: "The penalty for harming a wedge-tailed eagle is $11,000 per bird and/or six months jail.

Wedge-tailed eagles are found in most country areas west of the Great Dividing Range."

At times licences have been issued for culling because wedge tailed eagles breed too much, unusual since there is not a high chick survival rate from eggs. Maybe one out of three. Mostly relocating is done these days which is a far saner approach, and that is an expert job. Birds of prey are well respected here and in New Zealand which also has some beautiful, beautiful eagles. We do protect them in this big country of ours because we need them as part of our environmental chain. They keep our country safe and stop some our smaller wild life populations from exploding.
