Bogged tourists spark major alert

Bogged tourists spark major alert: "'Tasmania Police would like to remind the public that EPIRB distress beacons are for matters of distress when there is a serious risk to life.'"

I think tourists need these sorts of things explained to them on the plane over. We are a massive country and it is hard ot imagine how some people feel when they come here, especially when they hear about sharks, crocodiles, death dealing spiders and snakes... The Swiss tourists were probably terrified and did what they thought was reasonable not realising what a distress beacon means in terms of what we will activate. 5 km from a sealed road sounds funny to us, but to them they were probably in the most dire of situations. We need to get some things clearer, I guess, and as it turns out no harm was done. We don't understand how frightened some people can be of our country because of the things they hear.
