Toyota Creating Alcohol Detection System
Toyota Creating Alcohol Detection System: "Toyota Motor Corp. is developing a fail-safe system for cars that detects drunken drivers and automatically shuts the vehicle down if sensors pick up signs of excessive alcohol consumption, a news report said Wednesday." I got this link via Slashdot and I am so glad to hear car manufacturers are putting some brains into new models. I don't like the idea that we are so stupid we need a Nanny society to look after us, but I am afraid some of us are that stupid and until we work out how to socialise the anti social, then Nanny cars are the way to go. They will not operate if they detect high levels of alcohol, abnormal steering or unfocussed pupils. That's a start. Put in the voice recognition autostart and you can go for the slurred speech. Add an emergency button and you can get help if you crash, or you start to feel really ill and need help. This is what we can do now in our new millennium and I am glad to see us getting into it. It's just pretty bad we have to do it to save ourselves from great, stupid, destructive idiots.
