Peptides

AdelaideNow... Great leap forward in medicine:

"Chemicals secreted from special glands in the skin of frogs appear to work against cancer cells and bacteria. Others have been shown to enhance immune responses or relax muscles.

Dr Tara Pukala has spent four years studying 'biologically active peptides' (protein-like molecules) from two groups of Australian frogs, which use the peptides as a defence mechanism."

There is such a cute photo on this article of Dr. Pukula and one of our green frogs. She has been studying peptides and will be moving her particular research to Cambridge University. Adelaide University will, however keep going with the frog research. Peptides come from frog glands and are able to attack bacteria and foreign cells. When it comes to debilitating and destructive human diseases something like peptides are what we need. Anything, anything to get rid of the scourge of cancer and cancer like diseases.
