Free Melbourne transport a 'success'

Free Melbourne transport a 'success' :

"Metlink spokesman Andrew McGinnes said about 200,000 people took advantage of the free trains, trams and NightRider buses to get around town last night."

I am glad to hear the Melbourne people got all night free transport and that the heat did not deter people from using the system because it was a trial for the Commonwealth Games. Made sense to give it a "free" run because it means guests to the city will be more easily accommodated. Also made sense on New Year's Eve if you are serious about looking after your community. A great public gesture which should be encourages. Give and take.

We had a rather interesting bus run from down here last night. The bus did not run on time. It was 10 minutes early. A run by car to catch the bus further on its route ended up as high adventure because the early bus was going so fast on its route. People were not at the bus stops to catch it , so it could fly past those and finally, one person had been extra early to one bus stop and the bus to town had to stop...and the car could catch up with it. The drive back was interesting because everyone was at the bus stop waiting for the bus. Very unusual, I might add. Added to the fun of last night I guess.
