NZ lead in island murder mystery

The Australian: NZ lead in island murder mystery

: "A THREE-YEAR investigation into Norfolk Island's first murder has moved offshore to a New Zealand hospitality worker who left the former penal colony some months after the gruesome stabbing of Janelle Patton."

Norfolk Island is a small, exclusive island which is a popular tourist resort but also a well loved home by locals. This one and only murder was very odd and because of the setting was really rather like an Agatha Christie novel. I had wondered what had hapened because they got to the list of the 16 suspects and then we heard no more. I am relieved to hear the investigations are still going on because the family must be in a terrible state not being able to resolve this one way or another. Janelle Patten had a lot of stab wounds and it all seemed so unwarranted and unbelievable...as I said, like a novel. Now, at least there is a new lead, and hopefully there will be an end to the parents' worry. For threee years it's been eating away at them and Janelle Patten deserves to have her murderer found because he or she is still out there and unless we know why this happened, then people are at risk.
