Robe's $6m marina

The Advertiser: Town `can't afford' leases at $6m marina :

"A plan to build a marina at Robe, in the state's South-East, has sparked widespread anger among locals, who claim a lack of public consultation has left them facing major expenses."

Robe is a beautiful place in the South East and the people of Robe love where they live. It's an easy trip from Adelaide and well worth it. There seems to be a trend here and in other countries to develop these multimillion dollar places whether they are marinas, resorts, hotels, properties so that then the locals are disenfranchised from the very land and lifestyle they made desirable in the first place. Money is at the bottom of it but there is more to life and living than money. I am a great believer in consulting properly with local people to ensure they are not treated as aliens in their own homes and countries. This is where global markets act at cross purposes with local living.
