You Tube all grown up?

"Universal is negotiating with YouTube to set up a stand-alone video site to showcase its music videos as a way of attracting premium advertising."
Well I'll let the Brits and Google swing it out in the ring over the music fees . I understand all the discussions about royalties, rights, artists etc...but You Tube has been a promotion site too which has made a lot of  moeney and success people. Somewhere in all this is sense and now we are having these sorts of discussions it tends to suggest that You Tube has come of age and new ways of administering it may well be desirable. The music people can sort out their licencing agreements You Tube floats a lot of talent. It floats a lot of rubbish too. It has been very random but now it is coming into its own and it would make sense to me to break the site into various arenas where videos can be aired according to their level and then still have that random component where whatever happens , happens and if it takes off, well, we have had the chance to find something different. There is a status quo now for You Tube. Before it was finding its feet.
