Poor Pollies

AdelaideNow... Blair Labour's only hope - poll
"When people feel that their lives are more of a struggle than they used to be then that expresses itself in dissatisfaction with the government," Ms Harman said.

Politicians are having a hard time of it when people do not realise that much of what is occurring financially is globally driven and the chaos of the American sub prime mortgages is wreaking havoc across the world. Many decisions are taken on an international scale and so individual countries, who are not the biggest money earners in the world...multinationals are , are having a difficult time politically. In many countries is really isn't about parties any more. One size fits all is becoming the MO for political management. It's showing up here because people are voting for people. They have worked out that there is not a lot of difference in the parties..and so they are going for the individuals. In some senses we have outgrown parties because politicians are administrators and not people who represent the national views and interests. On a daily basis they are managing the global influences on their countries and trying to manipulate the nation into participating in the initiatives which will increase their participation in an increasing international world. For Britain to think Tony Blair would be the best man for the job is an indication of how confused people are. Over here, the parties are being abandoned and people are voting for the politician whom they think will serve them best. it has become quite complex. There is a dissatisfaction with parties...because they are not be able to counter global trends. Individuals might be able to manage them better than others. All tricky stuff which we need to wise up on.
