Hot Pink Buckwheat

Hot pink Tas crop brightens Japanese landscapes: "Farmer, Brenton Heazelwood says Japanese farmers will plant paddocks of it to purely brighten up the landscape."

Buckwheat
is a wonderfully nutritious thing! Protein, B vits, minerals, flavonoids. Our legendary Pancake Parlour gives a good run down on it. I have known it as a pancake base and breakfast fare. It normally blooms white but this crop in Tasmania is destined to be decorative fields in japan. It would appear we like and appreciate it too as a visual diversion. Is it a hybrid? How does it get to be hot pink? This buckwheat appears to be an ornamental. I wonder if it gors well in the drought? Might liven up the crispy brown landscape? Can it be used as a food source? Mulch? I think we should have hot pink fields too.
