The Advertiser: SA doesn't count in Year 12 maths :
"The number of students doing intermediate mathematics in SA dropped by a quarter between 2002 and 2004. Fewer than 10 per cent of SA's Year 12 students are studying advanced mathematics and the number of students doing basic maths is the lowest in the nation. The report, funded by the Federal Government, tracked participation in mathematics from 1995 to 2004. ICE-EM director Garth Gaudry said standards in SA were 'way, way below' those of the eastern states."
