Barossa residents warn of development crisis.

Barossa residents warn of development crisis. :

"The Barossa region Resident's Association says a massive economic expansion over the last decade is threatening the region's heritage.

Association president Anita Bowen says development needs to stop until a strategic plan is put in place."

This is not the only place worried by the aggressive, pecuniary approach to living. People who once lived in semi rural townships are finding themselves in the midst of urban agglomeration brought on by multinational development. This is how other places have become big urban sprawls and how towns have turned to cities and how property developers have made money. Their countries were once land too ...grass, trees, parrots, wild life, flowers. How do you think it happened. We have not put in place any protection for people and places which have been "country" or quiet coastal areas are now targeted for multi storey appartments, supermarkets, malls. Multimillion dollar developments...so our land is not ours. Where has the local consultation been? We have had massive shade trees cut down. Trees which housed our parrots and kept us cool in summer. All over Adelaide there is an interference in how we live. We live where we live because we like it. If we want big and urban we live in Melbourne or Sydney. It's April and all these things are sprouting up around Adelaide...why?? Especially when we don't want it and we weren't asked and our chosed lifestyle is up the spout. Oh yes, I forgot...if we don't like it we can move. Lovely approach. Heritage means nothing. Our heritage is being pulled down or burnt every day. Why is that?
