The Australian: Aussie develops cancer vaccine :
"The vaccine - based on work started 15 years ago by Ian Frazer, director of the Centre for Immunology and Cancer Research at the University of Queensland - received a huge boost yesterday when researchers reported a 100 per cent success rate in final trials."
This has been worked on for quite some time and it was always a belief here that a vaccine was the way to go. It is fantastic news and must make the researchers and those involved in the trials feel an enormous sense of relief and pride. The more we nail this disgusting disease, the better. We have about 700 cases of cervical cancer a year and about 270 deaths. It's an insidious awful disease and not even Pap smears can save you from it. They are a good safeguard, and pick up changes in many women, but if it decides to take hold, it can take hold very quickly. This vaccine is brilliant news. I could almost jump for joy. It will save so many lives.
