Beazley promises friendly workplace

Beazley promises friendly workplace :

"BOSSES and workers will have more flexibility to negotiate family-friendly working conditions under a federal Labor government, Opposition Leader Kim Beazley said today.

Mr Beazley said the new federal workplace laws were discouraging employers from agreeing to working conditions that took their staff's family needs into consideration."

While we follow the business model of profit and productivity, there will be nothing but profanity from workers. Workers. That is what we have become. No one much cares what we think, who we are, what matters to us and the fact without our constant productivity there would be no profit. Australia used to be the sort of place where all sorts of human considerations came into play without sacrificing achievemment and performance. People had a say in their conditions, their job descriptions and their hours. It was a place where we negotiatied and we had a number of forums nationally where work place issues were discussed and debated by vested interest and interested parties. In a word - care. Bosses were not about power and position , they were a part of a dynamic structure which enabled us all to have a vsion of what could be achieved and how we related to that. People would work long hours and there wasn't the level of depression and fatigue there is now. People were engaged with their work. Most people enjoy working but it has become documentation, paper shuffling, accountabiltity, productivity, goals, outcomes, predicted outcomes, action plans...paper, paper and more paper. Graphs, statistics, models and systems. The bosses are about systems so the workplace it simply about process. Before everyone was a part of a team. Workers are now drudges and there is a silly notion that people are expendible because they are cheaply reproduced. So there is no belief in the power of one. No belief that one person can invigorate and empower so much more than another because it's all about quantifying. The are no human qualities in a quantitive approach. How sad.
