Irukandji jellyfish

Addict treatment helps stung swimmer

Irukandji Jellyfish

A quick thinking Queensland doctor saved the life of a little girl who was stung on Good Friday off Great Keppel Island. It never ceases to amaze me how any experience you have in life can be brought into play in the most unlikely circumstances. These jelly fish are deadly and the doctor's experience and his capacity to think laterally under pressure gave the little girl her best hope of survival. The treatment he used is normally used for cocaine addicts. This time it saved the life of an eleven year old.
