Cybernose

Wine industry's 'cybernose' leaves nothing to chance.:

"Scientists are working on what they call a 'cybernose', a machine that will taste wine and map out its qualities mathematically."

When I think of the years of experience which goes into a French perfume's "nose" and the dedication and skill these people have, I do wonder if the mathematical approach can compete? I feel there is something in the essence of humanity you need to be a good "nose". But the idea of a cybernose strikes me as hilarious so I am really curious to know if our cybernoses will be successful or even competitive in the real "scents". I tend to think it's an art as much as a science. We'll see.
