The botox miracle

The botox miracle:

"For the parents, it's nothing less than a miracle. And you'd think so too if one day your disabled child stood up and walked for the very first time."

I saw this section of 60 minutes last night and it was nothing short of touching, moving and inspiring to see these children, the parents and the pediatricians who were working with the botox treatment of cerebral palsy. Over the years I have been involved from time to time with people with cerebral palsy and it remains one of our diffiult illnesses in that the general public doesn't have sufficient understanding of how it affects people. The children on the programme captured your heart and their parents explained their hopes and trials so clearly, you couldn't help but understand the whole situation better and feel more able to help as a community member. It is fantastic to see something like botox have such a profound effect on people's lives and this little girl featured in this article was simply so mature, so engaging and so articulate, she needs to be featured more often so we get a better understanding of conditions like cerebral palsy. It was brilliant...they all were brilliant. We have done a lot of come to terms with profound deafness and vision impairment:time for other conditions to be highlighted and integrated into the mainstream of living.
