River red gums.

Bleak outlook for river red gums. :

"To find out that three quarters of the trees in that area are dead or dying is an absolute shock... it's a national shame,' he said."

Our red gums are spectacular trees. They are used to make the most astounding furniture. They can be carved and the the colour is superb. But they are brilliant in our landscape. The whole River Murray situation is very sad and we have done this. We need to undo it and smartly because we need the tree to look at and paint and we need to be able to use the trees for carpentry. There are even some great cottage industries based on Red River Gums. I have a beautiful carved clock which I bought in the country from a guy who made the most astounding carved tables, chairs and clocks. He used the fallen branches for the smaller objects.
