Take a Break!

"Those in Italy received 31 days (using 25 days), Spain 30 days (using 27 days) and Germany and Austria received 27 days (using 25 days and 23 days respectively)."
I am not surprised to hear we are not taking holidays and not resting. 19 days and people are not using them. They are also hording long service which was designed to give workers a well earned rest. In caring professions here the pressure is on to be at meetings, training, skill development, inservice, performance management. There is real pressure to work and be doing all the "currency" training. Tough ask. One English person I met recently was saying we do the jobs of 4 people in England. He couldn't believe how we have to multitask, how we have to do everything and how we are forced into being everything to everyone in the work place. Then he couldn't believe how many hours we put in and how we didn't get a chance to ...yes, take a break. I think it is important to listen to the observations of new comers to our country. Not everything they say is right or true but they do have a fresh perspective which might give us insights into how we might  manage our workplaces better.
