Christmas

I love Christmas. I don't view it at all as a commercial con job. Those who do have allowed themselves to be that way. But I am not here to philosophise today. Today you will not be entitled to hold my opinion! This weekend was a bit slower so even though I have had some nice socialising it hasn't been jam packed like the last couple of weekends. I have quarter watched the one day cricket between Australia and NZ. NZ are certainly fired up!! I love decorating my house for Christmas and I love making all the Christmas goodies. I very much believe in the enjoyment of the festive season and taking my time to prepare for it and savour each bit along the way. The European in me, I suppose. I have made the puddings. We'll be having a big Christmas BBQ which works really well. When my mum died we just couldn't do the traditional stuff anymore. We kept the puddings but have gone over to the BBQ. It's great. Everyone gets involved when you BBQ. So no poor person is carrying the burden of the food on the day. We all contribute and we all prepare. It's very sociable. I have been watering my hebe madly trying to repair the damage from the car crashing across my garden last Monday. I have had to really cut a lot of it and it looks very sad but it's a sturdy plant and is rallying already. We took quite a while to clean all the mess up and the neighbour had to have 2 days off work to secure the house in its current state and get insurance people out. Even though there was no really nasty damage , there has been a lot of time and effort wasted on the trail left by the 17 year old P plater of 2 weeks. I have got to the angry stage I guess and am miffed we are all cleaning up his mess, even though he was basically an okay kid. I have worked out he is very dangerous and destructive behind a wheel of a car and that is the thing which really gets me. We still have cars flying past, so it has changed nothing on our street and it's supposed to be 50Km. Ever since the sign went up the cars have been roaring past with a catch me if you can attitude! Still... Christmas is coming. Season of good will to all men and lead foot drivers.
