Clot busting may prevent miscarriages.

Clot busting may prevent miscarriages. :

"They found that screening the women for thrombophilia, a tendency to develop blood clots, and giving them prophylactic anti-thrombotic therapy halved their future chances of losing a pregnancy.

Professor of obstetrics and gynaecology at the University of Adelaide, Gus Dekker, says the women were screened for thrombophilia, insulin resistance and elevated homocysteine levels."

This is great news for women who frequently miscarry . The treatment reduces the miscarriage rate to 15% and screening can identify risk factors in 60% of women. This is a big breakthough by Professor Dekker and his team at Adelaide University. It's something which has a huge emotional impact on women and their families. It is nice to know we are starting to solve that problem.
