Open Cut Mining

"Despite Mr Garrett's anti-uranium disposition before entering Federal Parliament, Mr Dalla Valle says he is confident that BHP will get a fair hearing."
Instead of the Greens saying one thing and the mines saying the other , a year is plenty of time to get scientists, ecologists, environmentalists and others with a creditable set of credentials to look at this whole open cut mining situation. We all know how much money talks. That open cut mine is worth a fortune which is why they went for open cut mining in the first place and have then created a great gaping hole in our state which just makes money. It's already doing environmental damage. If the changes create more then the position bargaining between the Greens and the mines will not bring that to light. It needs to be looked at in a very rational, detatched way. Open cut mines are not noted for their kindness to  the environment. Mines are not nature friendly.
