Xstrata denies link to flesh-eating disease. : "The article reported zinc and lead levels downstream from the mine are twice what they are upstream and that it is possible these levels could increase the risk of human infection from the disease."
Well, the company is hardly going to say it is at fault and if the company and researchers work together I am certain that this will be resolved. A flesh eating disease is not desirable. The research has looked at teh toxic levels of metals in the area and often no one knows exactly what is happening until research is conducted. Things happen and then we need to back track, find the source of the problem and then resolve it. The flesh eating disease can be treated if caught early. We actually need to know what we are looking for and we do have to be clear about what is and isn't polluting our environment. I am sure this will all be sorted out . Getting the information is essential. That way no one else will come to harm.
