"The colossal force of the crash on Magill Rd at Magill is graphically shown by the mangled wreckage of the two unrecognisable cars strewn over several hundred metres."
The one who is dead is 23. These people are lethal weapons in their cars. They are using cars as weapons. It is wrong. The police and fire brigade will be cleaning up these awful messes. The ambulance officers will be attending to try and save whomever they can in the damaged state they are. This is totally irrational behaviour and it is costing lives. The young are not learning, but, worse still, they are creating such a lot of pain and trauma for others to deal with. If there is a pattern to these sorts of drivers we need to identify it and then stop them somehow from driving. Easier said than done because people just drive without a licence. Peer pressure. Family pressure. Community pressure. We are going to have to be very loud and determined because their families and friends keep having to grieve and the community is constantly subject to shock. Somehow we have to pen them in and that's unfortunate I am having this thought but I really feel for the police, fire brigade and ambulance officers who keep having to clean up these bits of humans. It is wrong. Wrong. I can remember a while back one mother was pelading for her son not to be sold a car and yet he was an adult and so we cannot stop it...but if the car is used as a weapon?? Can we stop it then? We need an early intervention phase somehow and then some tough restrictions which we can monitor and that, my friends, is going to take a team effort from the community....or some clever technological way of monitoring them.
