Shooting fury after bear attacks Aussie | NEWS.com.au
"These idiots were surrounding a wild animal to take bloody pictures and they got what they deserved - the bear fought back," one reader wrote.
Exactly. People invade the space of wild animals and then crowd then and they retaliate. Our Aussie tourist who was bitten is getting some of the blame and I am sure he or she did not get up in the morning and plan to have a bear bite him/her. People get really upset when animals are killed, particularly their own native animals. It cuts deeply. Apparently the Australian didn't move when the bear was headed his/her way when he was trying to escape. The Australian wouldn't have known what to do. With our animals you have to say still and the fear and confusion would have been running high. But a lot of people were trying to photograph the bear so then it became confusing. Basically people and wild animals do not mix. It is a shame the bear was shot when it tried to come back. He lived there near Whistler.
