Drink Driving

AdelaideNow... SA police disappointed with continuing drink-driving
The first phase of Operation Consequence, two weeks ago, saw 111 people caught either drink-driving or driving while on drugs.

This time they caught 103 but it should not be a surprise. What were the ages of the people? Lifestyles? We have people who are not part of a team. They have to look out for themselves and notions of the common good do not exist. There are now people with their wants and needs and the universe spins around them. We have had consequences for ages and that game means people look at the consequences and weigh that against their needs. If the consequence is not a deterrent , they will play roulette. If they get caught, then they knew the consequences so it means there is no sense of responsibility. Take their car away and they will use someone else's. Take their licence away and they will drive without one. People will push boundaries instead of common sense. Considering others doesn't exist. They have to do community service because it will inconvenience them. They also have to report somewhere and give up their time and maybe compromise their job or part time job. We do need lessons in how to be a team player and we do need to remind people they belong to a community. But when I am driving I am used to people suddenly doing a U turn in front of me or pulling out whenever they feel like it...pushing their way through. Backing up in the middle of traffic because they want to turn off the road. The rules are not for them. Narcissism is not easily dealt with once it is created. Giving into it is what a narcissist expects. they expect capitulation. Tagging them in all senses of the word would work. We used to stop thoughtless behaviour at a younger age. Now we don't...we are suffering the consequences!
