The Big Bang Machine

Hackers claim there’s a black hole in the atom smashers’ computer network - Times Online
CERN officials are now confident that the collider will have started experiments to generate new physics well before world leaders visit on October 21 to inaugurate the project.

This well and truly was the talk of the town for the whole week. This article is the best one I have read to get some idea of what this is all about. I am not strong on physics but I feel as though I am clearer as to what the Large Hadron Collider can do and how last Wednesday really wasn't anything at all, in terms of its ultimate capabilities. In the meantime hackers have supposedly hacked into the system and I would assume any project which is supported by this kind of rarefied intellectual capacity would be bolted down securely. As it turns out the big event will be October 21st and several heads of state will be there....so it really is a big deal that hopefully will not go off with a bang!
