Bush's Asia Trip Meets Low Expectations

Bush's Asia Trip Meets Low Expectations:

"As Bush wrapped up his stay in Beijing on Sunday and prepared to head home Monday after a brief stop in Mongolia, the trip has produced no real breakthroughs of any sort. On a wide variety of issues, from trade to security to human rights, Bush won no concrete agreements from any of his summit partners."

I don't think as the head of one powerful country going to meet the nations in another powerful country you should expect anything. I think expecting isn't what you do. I think meeting and greeting is what you do. If you cannot meet people on an equal footing without doing deals you forget the value of knowledge, knowing and being social companions. I think you forget you can meet people and if your meetings have gone when you develop relationships. I think the very fact Mr. Bush, as President of America, has gone to spend time with people in Asia and shown a willingness to be with them is a great step forward. Think about it. If someone only came over to your home to make a deal with you, how would you feel about them and would you consider them to be your friend? Don't you value the people you spend time with, whose company you enjoy and then, when you might need to do deals, you can call upon them for help or whatever it is you need?
