What Skills Do Employers Want?

Employability - What Skills Do Employers Want? :

"1) Honesty and integrity

2) Basic literacy skills

3) Basic oral communication skills (e.g. telephone skills)

4) Reliability

5) Being hard working and having a good work ethic

6) Numeracy skills

7) A positive ‘can do’ attitude

8) Punctuality

9) The ability to meet deadlines

10) Team working and co-operation skills"

Canterbury Christ Church University is in Kent, UK and that area is getting a bit of a go ahead attitude with education. This information on their site is helpful and if you read further you will notice that languages are a must too. In a global, multi national world that makes sense because it is how people are communicating efficiently and effectively. Working communities can be established anywhere and can link people globally through our online delivery of resources and applications. As a consequence the need for IT and language skills are just expected these days. People can then communicate directly or someone can act as the facilitator of communication. It's how it works on the ground in Africa or Vanuatu...they've been doing "global" facilitation as a way of life forever! I'm just wondering if these nations would really move ahead on the global market if they had the technological resources since they are already used to the adaptive requirements which are now placed on all of us as a result of global collaboration? At this stage it would seem flexibility in communication would have to be at a premium since it is how we are currently developing our global initiatives for our rapidly changing world.
