The web, the politician and the prostitute: "Ms Dupre may have never expected journalists and bloggers to pore over everything she had ever uploaded to the web."
Sounds like a beginning of a joke...there was a politician, a prostitute and a social network.....blah, balh, yadda, yadda.
We have come to a defining point in our online history. Is everything up for public scrutiny? Is everything public domain? Do we have no rights? No privacy? Is there no etiquette? rules of engagement? As I said yesterday there is so much which is so very destructive about our world of technology and it is destroying us and our society. The rules are , there are no rules and anyone can have their MySpace invaded...or a fictional one put up to represent them. Spybots and web crawlers just make it even harder to.
keep yourself to yourself. Most people post things but they don't actually want all and sundry to be peeking and passing comment. I think we need to have a long hard look at what is going on and adopt some protocols which are reasonable...and that is so much more easily said than done .
