Price rises won't break your back

Price rises won't break your back: "'It'll be significant, it won't be overwhelming, it won't be a doubling, it will be well below that, but significant,' Prof Garnaut said on Network Ten."

All these increases are starting to have quite an impact. Okay, it means we shall probably stop spending so much money on all these gadgets and toys and we shall make things last longer. It does mean though that even without that , there are some people who cannot now, at this very moment, afford shoes and bike brakes for their children. We can get more serious about second hand outlets and dealers to help people cope. We can publish cheaper recipes and ideas for people. There is a lot we can do to help those who just cannot cut back and cannot see their way through all these increases. There are things we need to change and the infrastructure will cost but we need to be careful we do not keep advantaging company profit and shareholders at the expense of the general public. Somewhere in all of this their has to be some fairness.
