Newborn found dead in public toilet

Newborn found dead in public toilet : "Believed to be only hours old, the baby was found by a camper at the Meredith Park camping ground in Irrewarra, near Colac, about 8.30am (AEDT) today, police said."

This has to stop. We are supposed to be a civilised society and even an uncivilised one would take better care of women and children. This is the second one and I don't know if they ever found the woman who left the last one and what her story was. I have several concerns. My first is the utmost compassion and sympathy for the person who finds these poor babies. It must be so upsetting to the core. I feel so sorry for that person and the others who are inevitably required to manage and deal with it. I feel upset that the police keep having to deal with things they ought not have to deal with. I am concerned that this will create infection because these women are using public toilets. I am so sad that babies are born under these circumstances and then are left to die. Are the women unable to get to a hospital? Are they using this as a form of abortion? Are they ignorant of childbirth? Does no one hear them giving birth or having a miscarriage? Are people not aware these women are then so very much at risk both physically and emotionally? Doesn't anyone notice them and why can't they just get to hospital or somewhere more appropriate? What are their fears? Why can't they ask for help? We need to know why this is happening so the women can be better advised and helped in whatever circumstances are bringing these dead babies in toilets about. As a community we need to have an awareness campaign so we can work out some health and safety procedures here. We need to know we can't just shove it under the carpet...because someone knows these women.
