Stop wasting money, Rudd tells PM

Stop wasting money, Rudd tells PM : "Prime Minister John Howard should stop wasting time and money and call the federal election, Opposition Leader Kevin Rudd says."

Mr. Howard is way overdue for calling our federal election. It's at the stage where it's an abuse of power because no country should be held to ransom like this. It makes it difficult for anyone to be anyone or do anything in the political and business arena because we are currently in a state of limbo. To hijack a country in this way is both costly and uncalled for. The last federal election cost over $100 million dollars. Put that into hospitals and schools and we'd be state of the art. Put it into equipment for the disabled, housing for the homeless, food for the hungry and our country would be looking fit and well. Mr. Howard has been a prime minister who has kept us informed and that has been a good thing but he has chosen some very expensive ways of doing that. I got a brochure today about NetAlert. I do not need it. I valued and appreciated the one on Superannuation. We have had some pretty expensive brochures and Mr. Howard has put money here there and everywhere without actually consulting anyone. He just does it. It doesn't actually go through the democratic process. This is our money. We need to decide whether we wouldn't be better off sharing it in community things like roads and public transport, hospitals..blah, blah. In this day and age politicians need to come up to speed with the Net...and I am thankful they have all got into the social networking and made efforts to use technology. The most obvious thing is to get a government site to rally these documents which are printed and posted at great expense. A site which notifies us of new documents, election dates, current parliamentary discussion...like the powerful stem cell debate. It would save time and money and be far more effective. This current state of affairs needs to stop because weekly we are watching vast sums go all over the place and the country cannot tolerate that...water for farmers! Spend the money on getting our food into proper production. So let's get on with it so we can move onwards as we have to. No going back now. The past is gone.
