Princess 'recovering' from stress illness

Princess 'recovering' from stress illness : "The plight of Masako, a Harvard-educated former diplomat, is often compared to that of Michiko, who broke tradition in 1959 when she became the first commoner to marry an heir to the throne."
In this day and age this seems terribly sad. I do know that the Japanese people are upset about how ill their Crown Princess Masako is and she is not the only one in the royal family to be suffering, but she has not been able to function for 3 years now and sounds as though she is both ill and in despair. I know people don't mean to do this to others and that tradition is tradition. I think in the interests of wellbeing and peace of mind, Japan needs to seriously look kindly upon the plight of this woman because she has a lot to offer and it is because she has not had a son she is in this state. They have a beautiful 5 year old daughter but a girl cannot inherit the throne. This is tragic in 2007 and the mother is eating herself away from despair. I do hope that something can be done and that Crown Princess Masako can be spared her life of suffering and be allowed to be the competent, capable highly educated woman she is.
