Mr X shows he's no party person

Mr X shows he's no party person : "Mr Xenophon, 48, has also struggled with his health. He had surgery in 2002 for a heart condition. A recurring back problem leaves him ashen-faced with pain at times. But he insisted yesterday he was physically up to the demands of campaigning for federal parliament, and of shuttling back and forth to Canberra, should he win."

Nick Xenophon is one of our favourites. he does do funny media things. He's animated, intelligent, interesting and, above all, committed to the things we care about. His health may or may not be a problem. I have an older friend who had a triple bypass years ago before we got good at it. He has motorcycled around Australia, kept up a demanding job and been on some long haul overseas trips. He consulted regularly with his doctor, but these days we have a whole swag of very good, very knowledgeable health consultants who can really make a difference. It's about knowledge and personal power. I think Nick Xenophon would have what we need to help us move forward. He is very articulate about what we care about. I wish him well and should like to think he will put his health first and get all the backup he needs to continue to be the community leader he is.
