Young boy dies of flu in Queensland

Young boy dies of flu in Queensland : "'The most important thing is for people who do have the influenza to stay away from other people so they're not spreading it through the community - so staying away from schools, from childcare, from work, from crowded places, from public transport.'"

This is very sad news and it's something we need to remind ourselves about. Young and old are very vulnerable when it comes to the flu. Seeking help form the health hotline and consulting a doctor ought to help but the flu this year seems to be quite serious. Getting people to stay home is something which is hard to do. They think they will lose their job or fall too far behind at school and yet this flu seems to be something which needs a lot of rest and something we should keep to ourselves. We seem to have a few viruses going around here but ti's been like it all year. We actually haven't had any periods of wellness because we seem to have more bugs than ever. There's the cold, the gastric bug, the really bad gastric bug and the throat/cough thing. A lot of it has boiled down to us looking after each other but it also means workplaces need to consider how they will cover absentees and for kids in senior years at school to learn they can catch up when they are well.
