Steady rain signals arrival of winter

AdelaideNow... Steady rain signals arrival of winter: "Adelaide recorded 10mm of rain by 3pm yesterday to round off a wet but still below-average rainfall month. Bureau of Meteorology records show 54mm of rain fell in the city during May, compared to the average of 60mm."

No one is complaining because we so need all the rain. We have sulked a lot but we haven't complained as it's poured and gone freezing and we have had to drag around in scarves, gloves and winter woollies. Tourists have been laughing at us because they think this is normal! We have put up with the sneezes and diseases and we have watched our gardens spring to life and the birds become so grateful for the food. That's the biggest difference. The hills are green and the birds are really happy. We haven't forgotten the hot, dry rain free summer where everything crisped. Some people have been out buying more rainwater tanks, people are getting their gardens and houses revitalised and revamped to cope with the hot , dry conditions which will come again. The roads have been a disaster. Everyday this week there has been an accident I have passed on the way to work and then another I have passed on the way home. Most drivers have slowed down to avoid aquaplaning or because visibility is low. Most drivers have just kept a steady pace behind each other, but somehow these accidents are occurring . The police and ambulance drivers have been fantastic but they must be sick of it. It looks like mainly front end collisions judging by how smashed the cars are at the front. That is never good. Hopefully people will remember how to drive in the wet conditions and a few reminders wouldn't go astray.
